I moved to 9/11 in October 2001. The pile burned until 12/19/01. You could smell it and see it everywhere it seemed. I feel so fucking dumb I trusted the city and the EPA when they said we were safe. I am so scared for everyone who worked and lived down there but also the rest of us who were told it was safe downtown and were ENCOURAGED to go and support local business owners after the financial impact they suffered. Holy fuck. They only cared about the economy. They just wanted us down there spending our money. They didn’t care about any of us! I’m so fucking mad I trusted them so blindly. I was 22. I didn’t know better. How many of my friends and coworkers were exposed long enough to cause damage?! Was I?!
