We had a lad that accidentally drive into a roller shutter door, he got suspended for 7 days pending investigation... The roller shutter doors were damaged 6 times over the next 3 years, and not one person owned up for fear of losing their job..

I'm a roofing foreman and if my helpers make a mistake I take the blame and report it to my boss that way they trust me and will always let me know when they make a mistake so I can fix it plus it's my job to make sure the job is done right and as long as they let me know I'll take care of it and take the heat if I need to take care of your helpers and they will try to take care of you as far as I'm concerned that's how it should be

The best mistake I ever made actually saved the company money. I ran half the job not leaving enough to finish sand it and buyer never noticed it so after that we skipped that process and everyone was happy
