One year I ran Marine Corp and it was terrible. I decided to bump up from a half in December (6 weeks later) to a full and PR’d. I’m older and not fast though so my PR is not fast but my MCM training carried me to my December marathon.

So sorry about ur DNF!! I ran Geneva last year..but definitely not with those conditions. The weather/humidity has been SO awful all summer. If you're looking for a flat fast course..I'd recommend Indy Monumental!! Anddd typically great weather 🤞🤞

I’d drop down to a fast half for the fall and then hammer a fast full in the sprint if you’re feeling burnt out at all

Fast fall half and then go for the full in the spring. Don’t get burned out!

Give it another week before making a decision for sure bc I had a fail of a full in January and originally was set on another marathon right away and after 1-2 weeks was like nah I’m good so def

Depends what mile you DNFed at you might not need as much recovery since it wasn’t the full

I ran BQ.2 (3:03) and Chicago (3:06) last year with a goal of sub 3. It’s tough mentally and physically to keep the cycle going but doable. Listen to your body and if that second marathon isn’t going well take your foot off the gas and enjoy the moment. You could also deload and crush a spring marathon too!

On a much cooler raceday in November? Go for it!

A lot of the fast marathons are already sold out so if you can get a bib go for it.
A half in the fall and then full send in the spring is what I've done in the past in a similar situation.

It depends. When did you dnf? I think if you bailed before mile 18, you can do a November race. But it also depends on the courses available - is there one available that is flat and fast? Regardless, hopefully you’re taking a couple days off to recover and relax.

Last year I fell apart in Chicago 1 mile in, 6 weeks later I did Philly and got a huge PR. I say go for the one in Nov, you’re already trained! And it’ll be colder no matter what

November. Look at that DNF like you just ran another fast almost 20 miler. Short break here, as long as you’re not burned out (and I can see you’re not). That fire is burning inside you right now!!! Strike while the iron is hot!!!!

My opinion is the November race! I had a terrible race in May this year, did a mini build, raced in July again and absolutely SMASHED my goal out of the park! I just told myself the “bad Race” was just a practice in the training block to get it right for the actual race day. 😌
