My mother had been in labor with me for 23 hours and hadn’t eaten anything but ice chips, doctor was at dinner and sent a message via her nurse that when he was done he’d come to deliver her baby (me lol). She told the nurse “send him some ice chips on me” as a joke, but she actually did 😂 doctor said it was the first time in his 30 years as an ob a woman had sent him ice chips 😂😂😂

I once had a male nurse that was sooooo rude to me. Hated him. I'm laying in bed, a bunch of doctors and the nurse come into my room to look at my wounds and the doctor was heavily scolding the nurse saying he wasn't cleaning my wounds. I lost it. he WAS cleaning my wounds but the knots were so bad that every time I moved, something ripped open.
I hated the nurse but scolding a colleague in front of a patient is so unprofessional that I had to say something.

I had a resident ask me 9 minutes before shift change if I could start the enema on a hallway pt high on meth. I looked at him and started laughing it was already a rough night and it was either laughing or I yell swear words at him. His attending came up and said that means order the enema in 9 minutes.

I went to the Er for a racing heart that wouldn't calm down. They did an EKG and Dr discharged me telling me it was anxiety. As I was leaving the room the nurse came in , handed me the EKG and said go to the other hospital. Wound up it was SVTs and I got a brand new pacemaker at 30 years old. I may have died if I went home. I am so grateful for that nurse

My grandma was a nurse in the British military hospital in Gibraltar in WW2. She had an argument with a doctor over patient care, but he decided he was the doctor AND a man, so he knew better. He tried to end the conversation by lighting his pipe, putting the match out on the back of my grandma’s hand and walking away. All 4’11” of my grandma stormed down the corridor after him and kicked him in the nuts. He tried to have her fired; the matron provided an alibi. We did not know this story for more than 60 years. She never spoke about it until she was in hospital in her late 80s having a hip replaced. One day post surgery, she saw a male doctor dismissing a female nurse and she got herself out of bed on her walker and went up to him and told him what she’d done the last time a doctor spoke to her like that and he was lucky the nurse didn’t do the same to him. When we came in for visiting hours, we got pulled aside at the nurses’ station so they could tell us they were in love with her 😂

Had a general surgeon send me home with an inflamed appendix. I wish I was kidding. He was already home and didn't wanna come back in. Less than 48 hours later my appendix nearly ruptured and I was rushed to surgery. I no longer use that hospital system at all.

Once a dr mixed me up with another patient (he didn’t confirm my identity with me like not even check my wrist band) and he told me that I was pregnant. When I was trying to tell him that I 1. Was a virgin 2. Not here for pregnancy symptoms and 3. never gave him my blood or pee for a test he doubled down and started saying stuff like “oh you teen girls are always going off and having sex and then lying cuz you’re ashamed that you messed up your life and that your parents will find out blah blah blah” and during his rant a nurse came in and said “who is this” I gave her my name and she said “wrong patient” while running to the nurses station to fix his mess cuz he discharged the pregnant lady and not me by accident.

Had a precancerous tumor and it wasn’t found for years until caused ovarian torsion that completely necrotized ny fallopian tube and ovary. When my symptoms first started at like 14 (the surgery was when I was 24), my first gyno said it was weight and anxiety. My second gyno (love her!!!) did my surgery and, conveniently, my first gyno was in the same medical system. My second dr called my first dr in for surgery with me and I heard she proceeded to cuss her out and tell her to stop being like that while showing her my nearly septic ovary, fallopian tube, and the extensive endo. My mom said she heard nurses talking about it after.

I once paged a doc in the middle of the night as pt was declining, I was told not to page again unless the pt was dead. I charted his response word for word and when he saw it on rounds in the morning, he freaked and demanded that I delete the note and I told him that it would be illegal to do that and I wasn't risking my license for his poor choices. From the look on his face I was worried I'd have to call a code on him 😂

not a doctor but when I went into hospital with extreme chest pain. While checking in I was half doubled over in constant 8/10 pain, this lady nearby was LOSING it screaming at the top of her lungs that she "couldn't breath!" x 5 like *deep breath in* then screaming it at the top of her fkn lungs... I got so irritated I just spat at her "you're screaming lady, you can fkn breath, shut up!" 💀 the ladies behind the desk had to excuse themselves cause the moment they stepped out of sight we could hear them out back LOSING it- we also heard people already outback who overheard also losing it. The lady did chill out for a bit til I got admitted the moment my documents were filled lol (is okay, ended up being a really strange reaction to a gallbladder attack 0/10 do not recommend getting an infected gallbladder)
My mum, who was with me, was already worried cause I got a high pain tolerance and she's seeing me in pain was horrified at my filter being gone cause I'd normally be way more sympathetic towards patients-whether that's mental health issues or whatever but ya girls filter was having NONE of it

One time, and my first time working with this dr came in for his day surgery and he was running late so he was already pissed off and then it turned out none of his patients had signed consents (his responsibility) and so when we told him he had to go do that before we could start he was even more grouchy about it and was muttering about how starting late was going to ruin his whole life or whatever and how it was ridiculous and so as I was setting up while he was waiting outside the room I loudly said to my coworker can you believe this asshole what is his problem why is he mad at us bc his staff failed to notice none of the consents were signed why is that our fault and she was like yeah that’s just how he is but you’re right it’s ridiculous and anyways he bought us all individual large pizzas for lunch that day and for the rest of my time working there he was like strangely nice to me lol

I had an awesome doc that I worked with when I was a combat medic, every time he had to do something like an ABG that I hadn’t seen before he would grab me to come observe AND was a great teacher, and explained everything, I miss working with him.

I’m a MA, worked in urology. We had an issue with medical records, so my supervisor told me to go hand deliver some papers to the Dr and update him on the issue, I asked if I could leave them on his desk she said yes (provider was in surgery at the time) so I messaged him and let him know. About 5 min later my supervisor comes in and says never mind hand deliver them to him and let him know to copy and paste his notes. I go into the provider office which has all 6 of our urologist and he starts screaming at me saying that I’m stalking him. I quote that day and never looked back👍🏼

I have a doctor tell me that I had to get out of the room while he talked to the patient even though the patient and I have been having a small conversation for two solid minutes and the patient looked at the doctor and told her no you can wait and then said that we were all equal and that he had to wait his turn. I was also like to say she’s been here for a solid two hours and he’s been sitting at his desk on his phone the entire time.
