My dad would get violent and be so loud neighbours frequently called the cops. One time for whatever reason my mom thought I called them and I thought my parents were trying to kill me, the way they beat the shit out of me and the cops standing outside just said we needed to go to family therapy. They knew us by name that’s how often they came by. I would’ve died in that house if I didn’t leave on my own, EVERY adult failed me. CPS never answered their phones, my councillors and teachers told me not to bring “home business into school”, family members would tell me my parents were “trying their best”.

My mother literally stopped a cop, with me standing right there beside her, (mind you o was a CHILD) and asked them how and where she could beat me and leave bruises and not get in trouble. The cop told her that as long as the bruises were on my butt, and back of thighs to the bends of my knees, they couldn’t do anything…. A freaking cop…..

They just care that the kid is fed and clothed and the house doesn’t have bugs or anything, abuse that doesn’t leave visible marks isn’t on their radar. And even if it does, some parents are good at hiding it.

I made 4 reports as a kid to SS about being abused and they called me a liar every time. til they found evidence on my dad's laptop, he was selling it and got arrested but the reports I'd made never got brought up again, they weren't "relevant" to the case apparently 🥴

my mom doesn't beat but the shouting and the words she would tell you.that woman damaged my mentality l almost went crazy coz am an overthinker am still scared of her l dont tell her any stuff about my self not close with just distant no conversation she aint my favorite person at all

i read a book supposed to encourage children to speak up. it says that calling them wouldn't show on the phone bill, but also that they would send them a letter before coming... so i never called, fearing i would die

My and sister sneaked out the house house in the early hours to the police station in pj's, no coat, no shoes, no socks and told on my dad and begged them to go and look at what he done to our brother ( was stumbling with head injury when we last saw him) the police took us home, told my dad what we had said, then I dont know if they spoke more because the pure terror of being left with him after leaving the house, going to police and telling on him 😩 it was literally the 2000s

I told my mum I’d phone childline when she threatened to spray hairspray in my eyes. She went into primary school the next day saying you won’t believe she said she was ringing childline last night and the teachers told me off and said it was a horrible thing to say to my mum who was good and kind woman 😑🙄

i remember being about 3 and terrified as my brother got us both dressed and ready to run to our nans house after one of my mums scarier aggressive meltdowns, she caught us as we were at the end of the road and screamed for us to get back, pretty sure she beat us after that and we never tried to get away again

as a teenager i got picked up by the cops for shoplifting. when they asked me for my parents info for them to call to come get me i told them i would rather get booked and go to jail. hours passed and i was still like sorry officer you might as well let me go cuz you will not be calling my momma
