I am a person with a physical disability and I did connect with Quasi. it is a comfort movie for me because of the lesson I took from it. That being: goodness of heart will see you through the darkest of times. As for him not getting the girl I find it's a good juxtaposition to frollo's obsession. it showed that it hurt initially but he had love for his friends and wanted them happy so he showed his support.
