The 38-year-old was last seen by Polish climbers around 4,250 metres on the Italian side of the Matterhorn on September 1. McCrystal, an experienced high-altitude athlete, was reportedly attempting to set a record for ascending and descending the 4,478-metre Matterhorn in under five hours.
