I’ve never been to DragonCon but this has been on my mind for a while. Genuine question, are people picking their cosplays solely based on the likelihood that they’ll go viral on social media? Like the people cosplaying mashups of Sabrina Carpenter etc., it just feels like it’s only done for the chance of a ‘viral moment.’ From the videos I’ve seen of this convention it just looks like everyone’s performing. Then again I started cosplaying in 2012 so the community is vastly different than it used to be, regardless.
