Something keeps coming up in my conversations with family caregivers. I've spoken with a few lately who have described caregiving as feeling heavier, more complicated, and harder to manage than they expected. And instead of assuming I know why, I want to hear directly from the people living it. Has family caregiving become harder for you—or has something about the responsibility changed? Is it the amount of care your loved one needs? Is it trying to balance caregiving with a job, children, bills, appointments and your own life? Is it the medical responsibility? Is it finding reliable help? Is it the cost of outside care? Is it family members disagreeing—or one person carrying most of the responsibility? Or is it something completely different that we're not talking about enough? Research tells us that caregiving is becoming more complex for many families. But research gives us the larger picture. I want to hear the picture from inside your home. 🏠 After 17 years in caregiving, I've learned something important: sometimes before we start offering solutions, we need to ask the people carrying the responsibility what has actually changed.
