As someone who lives in China and will probably spend the rest of my life here, it kinda makes me laugh that lack of protest in China is used as evidence by certain Westerners that "China is oppressive/authoritarian/yadda yadda"; but when protests do take place (met with far less violence than your average protest in the West, btw), that is ALSO evidence that "China is oppressive!!1!" 💀 Before pointing fingers at specks of sawdust in others' eyes, are we ever going to stop and take the log out of our own? 😬

I thought of you as a journalist, and journalist report facts and do investigation based on leads. I understand that information from china is difficult to get, but talking about a topic where you can barely confirm anything and making speculations and simply listing a few things where you cant even clearly pin point the connection on a wide reaching platform is a little irresponsible.

From a reasonable protest (likely opposing pollution) to 20 crematoriums being funded by the government (likely to keep up with populous needs in a country of almost 1.5 BILLION people) is news?
