@exotic.pet.vet: Acupuncture… for pets? 🐶🐱🪡 If you’re anything like me, you may have been curious about acupuncture but wondered how it fits into modern veterinary medicine. I first learned about acupuncture in veterinary school through little tidbits here and there, such as points to stimulate breathing or increase appetite. It was fascinating, but I wanted to understand why it worked. After shadowing a veterinarian certified in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM), I was impressed by the results, especially in chronic cases where I sometimes felt limited by conventional medicine alone. That experience sparked a deeper interest and eventually led me to @chiuniversity, where I’m currently taking their veterinary acupuncture course. My first in-person lab was an incredible experience: four days of lectures, hands-on practice, and treating real patients under the guidance of experienced instructors. The biggest surprise has been how much TCVM has changed the way I look at my patients. I’m paying more attention to subtle details like tongue color, pulses, temperature, constitution, and patterns I may have overlooked before. Of course, TCVM isn’t a replacement for modern medicine. Acute injuries, infections, and emergencies still require appropriate conventional diagnostics and treatment. But for certain conditions, I’m excited to have more tools in my toolbox and help more pets in the future. ❤️ Has your pet ever been treated with acupuncture or TCVM? 👀🪡 I’d love to hear about it in the comments! 👇 #acupuncture #veterinarian #chiuniversity #TCVM #pets

Mary Haley Hamm :
I have been so surprised at the things acupuncture has helped my dogs and horses with. It's more powerful than people give it credit for, and definitely is worthwhile.
