The silly part is that I worked at a large company, and we had this exact issue... the only difference was he "quit" right before HR finished the firing process... came back like a month later for second round interviews...

This is almost me, worked 3 times in one company, got fired in my 2 job but they told me I could work later for 8h a week part time but I only went there for a week job training… later I worked at a company, I put in my few weeks told the boss I only stop working here if I can come back later he said ok. 5 months later worked there 6 months got fired, the boss told me 3 x is the charm, we can talk about you coming back later.
