The narrator watches someone repeatedly trying to escape a life that has become completely stagnant. Crying. Trying to break away. Falling back again. Days disappear, nights are spent staring at a screen, opportunities pass by and nothing seems to change. But instead of offering comforting words, the song is brutally unsympathetic. The narrator becomes frustrated watching someone waiting for life to magically improve while doing nothing to change it. That tension makes “So Many Times” hit differently.
