I never did a west pac while I was in, but I was deployed to South Korea during the summer of 95 for our joint ops. Operation Freedom Banner and the extended/rolled over for an additional 3 months for the next series of ops. I do know, from working on subs as a civilian that no, ships do not get towed in looking like ass.

It is what a ship looks like when they don’t make any port calls. That cleaning and maintenance happen during the port calls. This whole adventure was poorly planned.
