In Mexico, Christmas can look a little different from the traditional Christmas tree many of us know. While some families certainly have trees, beautifully decorated Nativity scenes, called nacimientos, are an especially beloved tradition. These aren’t always small displays, either! Families may create elaborate scenes in their homes or gardens, while entire communities sometimes build magnificent public nacimientos designed by local artists and craftspeople. 🎨✨ And here’s the really fun part—the scene grows as Christmas approaches! Baby Jesus is traditionally added on Christmas Eve, and the Three Kings make their appearance around January 5th, just in time for Día de los Reyes.
