I sent an email to my mom after 2 years of no contact. I couldn’t shake the feeling that it had to be done for MONTHS. Finally sent it, laying out “this is where you failed me as a parent” how it made me feel, what I wanted to be able to fix it, accepting it won’t happen and wishing her well in life. That was 2 weeks ago and I never got a response. I knew I wouldn’t. It still breaks my heart cuz that’s supposed to be my mom. I apologized to my husband for even sending it cuz I knew it wasn’t fair to him after all he did to hold me thru that storm the first time. I’m still hurting but my life is much better without her in it. I just get sad when I crave a mom to vent to or to tell about all my plans. Thankfully I still have my dad but his phone calls are short and sweet, to the point. It’s hard mourning someone who’s still alive but she chose the path that doesn’t include me and that’s okay. I hope she’s happy and I hope the story she tells everyone is the one that brings her peace.
