His mother cleans up his mistakes, his father defends him, and anyone who criticizes him is accused of being jealous or disrespectful. 2/ The family where the mother is emotionally dependent on her son He isn't allowed to simply become an independent adult. His choices are treated like betrayals, and his partner is quietly expected to compete with the woman who raised him. 3/ The family where emotions are treated as weakness Nobody apologizes. Nobody talks about feelings. Anger is acceptable, vulnerability isn't, and admitting you're wrong is treated like losing. A boy can grow into a man who knows how to dominate a conversation but has no idea how to take accountability. 4/ The family obsessed with status and appearances Everything has to look impressive from the outside. The right job. The right wife. The right house. The right image. What matters isn't whether everyone is happy. It's whether everyone looks successful. 5/ The family where love has to be earned Affection comes when you obey, achieve, impress, or make the family proud. Disagree with them, set a boundary, or become independent, and suddenly you're selfish or ungrateful. A man raised this way may eventually expect his partner to earn the love he should be capable of giving freely.
