@schoolcafeteriarecipes: HAPPY STAR TREK DAY! If you know me, you know how much I love Star Trek. 🖖🏼 But decorating our cafeteria and changing the meals' names for Star Trek Day was about more than having fun with something I love. The vision behind Star Trek is a future where everyone belongs, people from different cultures, planets, species, and backgrounds working together without discrimination. It imagines a world where money no longer determines whether someone’s basic needs are met. That message connects deeply with what food means to me. It's especially important given the current state of our country. At our school (and the whole state), lunch is free for every student. This is not the case for the whole country even though it should. So, I'm very proud of that fact. Go New Mexico! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 No one has to prove they deserve a meal. No child is separated or treated differently because of what their family can afford. Everyone comes through the same line, receives the same care, and has a place at the table. I wanted to recreate a little piece of that future in our cafeteria, a place where every child is welcomed, included, respected, and fed. 💜The Cafeteria Different 💜 Because food is more than fuel. Food is dignity. Food is community. Food is one of the ways we care for one another. So today, our mission is simple: Live long and lunch. 🖖🏼
