@coachdango: Every pound you lose takes 4 pounds off your knees and 6 off your hips. That's why small changes in weight make a massive difference in how your joints feel. A Wake Forest study found that just a 5% drop in body weight cut joint pain in half. A lot of people think they have a joint problem. They actually have a weight problem. Injections and braces are band-aids. Getting lean and staying lean is the real fix. - Dan #CoachDanGo #Fitness #health

Does the same apply to the weight of muscle mass. I’m 63 and I keep getting stronger in the gym due to focusing on progressive overload. I’m up 15lbs of muscle in the last two years while staying lean. Does that put more pressure on my joints?

I have a coworker and we were almost the exact same size, only she was a decade older than me. She started having severe joint pain, which lead to difficulty walking. I took that as my wake-up call. 18 months later, I'm down 100lbs while that coworker has had to have a knee replacement.

I've lost 168 pounds since last April and can say definitely that it makes a HUGE difference in joint pain and also just makes life easier since I can walk, squat, and bend down so much easier and for much longer now.

I’ve lost 70lbs and my joints feel, loose?? Idk if that makes sense. I do lift. And strength training, low impact cardio, but my joints don’t feel quite supported. Has anyone else had that issue? Already met with GP who always says it’s normal, but idk man.

I’ve lost 55 lbs and I as a person who also has hEDS, my knees, hips, and back all hurt equally as bad, if not worse due to the muscle loss that occurs alongside fat loss and perimenopause. I hurt sooo much.
