@nealkshah: Just four days before she died, Dolly Parton said something in an interview that almost everyone missed. Dolly's warning wasn’t about music, money, or her next project. It was a quiet confession about what happens when you spend YEARS keeping someone else alive while slowly letting your own body break down. What happens to the human body when you become someone’s caregiver? Why does a minor cut take nine days longer to heal? Why does your risk of dying skyrocket by 63%? And why is the person holding everything together in the exam room completely invisible to modern medicine? In this reading of his widely shared TIME essay, Neal K. Shah - a leading caregiving advocate in America - exposes the quiet crisis that is hiding behind closed doors in over 60 million American homes. If you are caring for an aging parent, an spouse with serious illness, or a child with special needs - or if you know someone who is - you need to hear this message. Published in TIME Magazine. Written and read by Neal K. Shah. Please read below for the full essay: https://time.com/article/2026/09/03/what-dolly-parton-said-in-her-last-interview-should-terrify-us/ Let's better support caregivers across America. ❤️ 🙏 #Caregiving #DollyParton #CaregiverSupport

My husband died of cortical basal ganglionic degeneration. Its symptoms were like Lewis Body Disease. I took care of him 8 years. When he died I lost 40 lbs. I weigh 129 now and can’t seem to gain weight. We used all my 401k and am now about to retire with just Social security. I’m worried about what will happen now. And I’m still tired all the time. He died 7 years ago.

Caregiver for my mother right now who had a stroke, it’s difficult because I still work full-time, and she lives about an hour away. Even though I am grateful that for the time I have with her, It is stressful and it does need attention and help.

Thank you so much for being the Caregiver's spokesman! You have great information and you are so encouraging to us caregivers! I am caring for my husband of 48 years, and consider it an honor., but I do get tired at times. Everything you say is true. It's encouraging and comforting to know someone gets it! Thank you!
