@reddit.scary.stor5: Getting hit in the head and temporarily losing your memory is not some cartoon trope. I had a teenage employee that got a head injury protecting a friend in a fight, and missed a week of work. When he got back, he said it was like living in a dream world when you can't use long-term memory. You have to be constantly supervised when you don't KNOW your name, your family, or anything about anybody, period, all while nursing an injured skull. Everyone is a stranger, but some are familiar. It was even stranger to him how it suddenly switched back on after three days, just sitting on the couch while watching TV. In an instant, he just knew again why he was hurt, the fight that took place in a park, the rock his head hit when he was pushed off his feet. Must have been the most profound moment of realization for him. Its even crazier to think how some people never recover from a traumatic brain injury. Imagine losing all of your memories, even your sense of self, and never regaining it. One of the scariest facts I can think of. If you've read this far, comment "TBI" so i know you're a real one. I have prosopagnosia it is NOT that big of a deal lmao. Its not like you see an eerie black spot or something where a face is supposed to be. You can see faces just fine, your brain just doesn't clock the subtle differences between most individuals.

I have Bell’s palsy on the right side of my face, caught it before it got too bad and was put on steroids. I still see the droop but other people say it’s not as noticeable as I think it is

My husband was basically having a stroke for a week without realizing it. Just on and off headache in the back of his head. Then he lost his ability to walk, swallow ,feeling in his right side out of nowhere. The stroke happened exactly where the headache was occurring. 45 years old. Apparently rare. Its called Wallenberg syndrome. Never heard of it prior. Doctor told us not many survive it. He’s still recovering.

I dont think bell’s palsy is that rare. I file people’s medical letters at a GP surgery and we have a lot of them who have or have had it

my dad's cancer (Merkel cell carcinoma) took over his intestines and stomach at the very end. we didn't realize until he ended up at the ER. yes, he vomited what was essentially feces because his body couldnt properly digest and evacuate what he was eating due to the cancer. it's a smell I'll never forget.
