@aerodynamicmeme: Cole Johnson, a 24 year old amateur MMA fighter who competes under the name Wavy MMA and trains at City Kickboxing in New Zealand, has announced plans to fight a full grown chimpanzee in a pay per view event on September 11. Johnson, who holds a 1 and 0 professional record with a single unanimous decision win, first claimed after that victory that he believed he could beat a chimpanzee in a one on one fight, dismissing widely cited claims about chimpanzee strength as internet exaggeration. His outlined plan involves using his wrestling background to close distance, tire the animal, and attempt a takedown, with safety measures reportedly including tranquilizers on standby, a grass enclosure, and restrictions against altering the chimp’s teeth or claws. The location of the event has not been made public, and the announcement has drawn widespread skepticism online, with many questioning its legality and whether the fight will actually take place as described.
