no this definitely needed to be answered. so I definitely believe it would be in canon for Arthur to make this position a thing just for Merlin like some bs about Merlin's dragon lord status making him nobility but only for the purpose that he still has to serve him and that makes their "poetry lessons" less suspicious.

Ask for Merlin being born a peasant his mom was a peasant, but I’m pretty sure the dragons were Lords weren’t they like pre-purge i’m pretty sure the dragon lords were titled nobility. I thought I remembered hearing that or watching that bit, but due to the purge, they had all their titles and lands stripped, and were ostracized and banished and hunted because of their connections to the dragons and hell well you didn’t have to have magic to be a dragon lord being a dragon lord was a kind of was seen as a kind of magic being able to command dragons was seen as a magic ability even if they couldn’t cast spells like other sorcerers, though you could be a sorcerer and a dragon Lord, like Merlin’s father Balinor who could use at least a few simple spells probably I think a little bit more of that but also like I mean, it’s not like he was Emerys but he would I think have been powerful enough to command the great dragon and be left alive bye Uther in exchange for the treaty thing, but then Luther went back on his word so he ran away. They’re probably would’ve gone back on his word and kill him anyways,
