The phrase "I feel" should be followed by a feeling.
Not a weird pseudo-psychic guess at your partner's motivations.

But we're talking about OUR feelings that we've bottled up inside because we couldn't trust that you wouldn't get defensive or angry. If im bring my feelings to you, its gonna be the truth, im not going to try to sugarcoat it to protect someone else's feelings when it was THEM who hurt me in the first place. But even with that saying. Never disrespect your partner or talk down to them, just let them know what they did wrong.
Like my favorite quote from one great man. "Everybody's going to hurt you, you just have to find the ones worth suffering for." -Bob Marley

when I use an “I feel” statement I always follow it up with how I feel and a little bit of why I feel like that. never with a “I feel you..”

Oh my god, we don't always have to say "I feel like" or even "I feel" at all. We can literally just say what's on our mind and whatever happens happens.
