I always found similarities in Jacob’s wrestling and Moses logically appealing to god in exodus 32-ish. Almost as if ultimate faith is being able to say to god “this is not who you showed yourself to be to me, and I would rather risk being wrong than call something holy that contradicts it”. I think it’s why churches push a message of fear of going to hell, rather than realizing that losing your morality/integrity due to that fear, is the ultimate hell. If people realized the latter, then they’d leave churches in droves.
