My mom told me a story about her first time voting that I've never forgotten. Growing up with relatively conservative parents in a conservative neighborhood, it was expected 1. she wouldn't vote or 2. if she did vote, she would vote the same way as her parents. As soon as she was old enough to vote in her first election and she did neither of the 2 options, she was berated and scolded for her choices. She told me that story to teach me that voting is not an optional choice or just something you do if you have time, but a privilege and a responsibility, and also quite literally the easiest way to help make tangible change in your society, community, and your life. Every! Single! Day! We see countless attempts by the current administration to restrict voting rights and discourage people from voting in general. Especially for young women who are repeatedly being told that they can just "vote as a unit", "vote like your family", etc. nonsense 😭 So tldrrr go register/check your registration. VOTE EARLY.
