@vmnewsofficial: SAFA presidential candidate Sandile Zungu has given the South African Football Association (SAFA) until Thursday, 10 September, to pay Bafana Bafana players and the technical team their outstanding 2026 FIFA World Cup bonuses. Zungu warned that if the money is not in the players’ and technical team’s accounts by close of business on Thursday, those responsible for the delay could face dismissal if he is elected SAFA president this weekend. Bafana Bafana reached the last 32 at the World Cup, with SAFA receiving about R218 million from FIFA. Reports indicate that the players’ bonus allocation is around R65 million. SAFA has attributed the delay to outstanding tax compliance requirements in the United States and Mexico, where the World Cup matches were played. The association says specialist legal and tax advisers have been appointed and that the process is being finalised.
