@allegedly_erin: Seven months ago, I lost my mom and primary caregiver Patti to ALS. Patti was (and is) my partner, my anchor, and my Sun. I am joining the @iamalsorg community's movement to end ALS. ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) is a terminal illness that takes away a person's ability to move, speak, and eventually breathe. The I AM ALS community has made real breakthroughs toward a cure possible. We're closer than ever to ending this horrible disease, but we can't do it without you. Fuel the movement to end ALS today at bit.ly/giveWOI #als #alsawareness
your mom had ALS and still took care of you? your mom was a badass. my dad died two years ago tomorrow, September 13th from ALS a little over a year after diagnosis

Aww I love this ! My daughter is disabled and she is my best friend !!!! I am her care giver, she is non verbal and has many challenges, and I have her with me 24/7 and she has severe anxiety and will throw up if I leave her, my biggest fear is leaving this earth without her, my husband would care for her but if he were gone to, idk what would happen to her and that scares me so much, she will think I left her and I would never. !!! Just thinking about it makes me upset !!! I have son also but he is autistic and I don’t think he would be able to care for her I know he would try his best and make sure she was okay but I just don’t know if he would be able to care for her she has a lot of needs !!!! I pray that I live forever for my babies. !!! 💖💖💖💖💖🙏🙏🙏🙏

I'm sorry that you lost your mom this way. It is definitely not a fun disease, as I have lost not only my mom but also my maternal grandma and maternal great-uncle to ALS. And I am scared that one day I will also have it. Considering the hereditary rate is a 50% chance.

ALS sadness incoming bc i feel like it might be ok to do here and i'm probs talking into the ether... but my aunt who i love dearly died of ALS 2 days after my 30th birthday last november, less than a year into her 2 year prognosis. i was lucky enough that i got to see her the day before and tell her some stuff that was important to me. when i left i hugged her and when i was up close i was able to hear her very quietly say she loves me which honestly was one of the best gifts i've ever received in my life. i know that was harder than i could ever imagine to do and i'm so grateful for it. also grateful that i at least had her in this new decade of my life so she doesn't feel as far away. her diagnosis was deeply impactful to me and kicked off so many significant mental health events in my life (that have led to life being better, at least, but it was HARD). she was so cool and i miss her so much. ALS is dogshit fr and i want to see the day nobody else has to go through this
