I always wondered, can we say that if the universe is infinitely big at some point we’re considered small and rules of quantum mechanics applies to us as for atoms? Or there’s a clear distinction between “small” and “big” inside infinite universe? Or is this just our perception and measuring devices.

I always prefer the Pratchett approach to Schrõdinger's cat; "In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious."

What bothers me about any show that tries using quantum mechanics as a plot device, is that they always misinterpret what it means to be an observer. Like they always seem to lean into the idea that a wave function collapsing means that a sentient observer was somehow involved.

In the version of the paradox I know, the cat is in the box with a poison gas canister which is activated by the decay of a radioactive isotope, do it's not really about observing the cat other than by observing the cat you will know that the isotope decayed or didn't. However the cat's state does depend on the observation of the decay but it's the canister which observes the decay. We only know the state of the cat (dead, alive, furious) when we observe the cat who observed the canister which observed the decaying isotope
