I'm split on this one. IF Mom knows for a fact that his grades are poor because he's f-ing off, not doing homework, being lazy, etc... then I could possibly see the value in teaching discipline and consequences. HOWEVER, if he's just struggling and not understanding the curriculum then this is counterproductive and unnecessary.
