Undiagnosed ADHD can create chronic anxiety-like symptoms from constantly being overwhelmed, forgetting things, running late, procrastinating, overstimulated, or feeling like you’re always trying to catch up. So you might get treated for “general anxiety” while the thing repeatedly creating that anxiety keeps flying under the radar. Of course, ADHD and anxiety can also exist together — and anxiety has plenty of causes outside ADHD. But if your anxiety seems heavily connected to executive dysfunction, overstimulation, and constantly struggling to keep up with everyday life, ADHD may be worth looking into.
