I don't understand how people can just accept anything he says... like no fact checking or verifying information. Its baffling.

canada just has our own dairy farmers that are able to supply the demand in Canada, and the need to import more is not necessary...thats it lol so the tarriff is in place only if the demand has over exceeded the Canadian supply and importing is necessary...and I don't think thats ever been reached? why would we import a product that isn't necessary?

on a brighter note, the surplus should provide lower prices domestically (according to the capitalist axiom of supply and demand), right?

Actually our dairy market was completely self sustaining (as we do not produce dairy for export). But under CUSMA we took away contracts from our dairy farmers (who have no where else to sell to) and allowed USA to have access to sell dairy to us (again, dairy we didn’t need but were taking as a favour basically). But because we have a delicate only produce what we need balance and not to kill our farmers after losing a percentage, we put a cap. That if anyone imported more that that agreed amount then a tariff would apply. No one was ever charged the tariff because no one ever over imported the agreed amount. (Again, we make exactly what we need, no more, so if would be very bad to have bought nore than agreed). Tariff was never charged and we did a favour accept something we didn’t need so USA over produced dairy industry had someone to sell to. But then now. Yes. We are charging a tariff in response to the tariffs trump started and we are simply defending ourselves from the bully.

I’ve never seen American milk inside a Canadian household. If this was true why is their milk in a bag and not a jug like American milk?

I'm actually surprised US dairy is sold in Canada. I live on PEI and everyone I know buys ADL dairy products which is a PEI company. I'd never buy US dairy products
