Get a new key fob. Very common for Mercedes keys to go bad and not recognize.

Could be the EIS (electronic ignition switch) has failed, was common on earlier one's with the electronic keys, may explain the no crank

bro bro bro, check the steering wheel lock, happened on mine, was driving, went in at home and than didn't start, the steering wheel lock had malfunctioned and threw immobalizer code and wouldn't turn over, was an easy fix
