RIP Squeakers August 2018 - September 2026 This is a tough one so if you read the whole thing thanks for caring! We got two sweet Axis fawns in 2018. The buck fawn was to be our original breeder to start our herd as his genetics were proven and his Sire was a massive buck from a breeder out of Dallas. He made the cutest squeaking sound when he was little, hence the name! I bottle fed Squeakers three times a day for 3 months. He was sweet and cuddly and playful. When he was 2 we introduced him to his own pen of 10 girlfriends. He literally changed overnight! Cuddles became side walking and side eye, ears back and hair standing straight up! He was now a big boy and was letting us know! Every year as he grew he brought us so much joy. When he shed or was in velvet he wanted cuddles and treats but once he was hard horned there was none of that, only treats through the fence as he would’ve easily hurt someone especially when he was ruttin as he definitely liked the ladies. Squeakers was not our biggest Axis on the property but he proved to be an amazing breeder and some of his sons were and are true trophies! The rut was hard on Squeakers this season. We saw him two mornings ago and he had clearly been gut punched during a fight. He did not suffer though we made sure of it. He got hurt fighting for the thing he loved the most…the girls.
