@annaforflorida: "A Florida lawmaker is calling on the Florida Athletic Commission to revoke the license of kickboxing promoter Duel Arena following an August 29 event at the Kia Center that drew controversy over alleged antisemitic imagery and gestures. State Rep. Anna Eskamani is also asking the commission to immediately suspend Duel Arena’s license and prevent the promoter from holding future events in Florida. In a letter to the commission, Eskamani alleges the promotion held an additional fight that had not been approved by state officials. “Only ten matches were approved and there were 11, and the 11th one had a referee that was not sanctioned to be a referee,” Eskamani said. Eskamani is also raising questions about fighters who were advertised but ultimately did not compete, as well as one matchup in which she says there was a 112-pound difference between the two opponents. Eskamani said the alleged violations raise concerns beyond the normal disputes that can surround professional combat sports."
