We want that high bar. Think about it. Do you want an innocent person in jail vs a guilty person free? Mistakes will be made. Where do you want the line drawn? How many in which group would you feel comfortable with? 1-10? 10-1?

Here in the UK we have the same bar for criminal cases “ beyond reasonable doubt” however the judge can after a specific amount of time passes instruct the jury that they will accept a majority verdict of 11-1 .

I’m English in our courts we accept 11-1 bc it’s the majority then again it wouldn’t have got to court here, the CPS would have accepted the ppp and we also use dr resnick as the worlds leading expert on mothers who 💀and our psychologist use his work as a diagnostic tool.. she would have been sent to a psychiatric hospital until Doctors determined she was no longer a danger to herself or others and our minister of justice agrees..

This is the first US case I have followed enough to know you need a unanimous decision. So used to England where if no unanimous verdict can be had they will accept 11-1 or 10-2 (Scotland 8-7). Of course we dont have Voir Dire either, just a random selection
