When you are a service member, you are essentially military equipment being rented to the military. VA disability is the US government compensating you for damaging the equipment they rented from you.

calling it Injury Compensation Tiers instead of a Disability Rating I think would do wonders for the understanding of the average person.

you can not deny the rate at which outgoing service members are getting higher ratings. I can't say for certain, but it appears like they're being coached to gain more. I do believe in the system, but I think more people have learned what to say and how to say it for gains, justified or not.

its been 16 years since I got my rating. I was at 40% for the first 11 years. 1 since I've been 100%. They knew they messed up my back and gave me nerve damage. I can no longer feel my right big toe. You keep falling apart, you never get better. theyre paying what they owe

I knew a 19 year old on 100% after he had his right hip and part of his leg crushed into dust from something huge falling on him, he was in for 6-8 months when it happened and served 2 years before leaving

The problem is there is a lot of fraud. When there are non stop ads fro companies who can "get you more money" and coach you on how to lie, its clearly fraud. Most vets arent cheating the system. But the ones that are stand out.

The biggest BS I think the VA does is how they rate. You start as 100% healthy person. Say you 70% for whatever. If you file for something else and you get 40% for that. Well it’s 40% of the now 30% healthy person they consider you. So you’re not 100% disabled you are 82% and they round that down to 80%.
