And aim to take on a leadership position in at least one of them by your 2nd year. You’ll build your network, experience, and résumé without even realizing it. 3. Say YES to studying abroad. 🌎 Protip: research whether the country you’re going to offers awards, scholarships, or has a partnership with your home country 4. Always ADD VEGGIES. 🥦🥝 Eat broccoli with the vodka. Kiwi with the pizza. Your future self will thank you. 5. Befriend at least one professor. Preferably a professor from a class where you got good grades. The professor is the plug. References, research opportunities, scholarships, grad school advice, networking… professors can open doors you didn’t even know existed. 6. If you can work part-time while studying full-time, get a student position. Research assistant, residence coordinator, tour guide, etc. 7. APPLY. APPLY. APPLY. 💰 Grants. Scholarships. Awards. Bursaries. Fellowships. Research funding. Study-abroad funding. Apply even when you think you won’t get it. and remember a University degree can be so much more than the paper you get at the end.
