@sierraxeastonxkids: vacations are hard for him… the changes in schedule/surroundings cause massive disregulation & he tends to not eat/starve himself, which is why daddy tried to offer food again at the end… 😭 #autismfamily #autistic #metldown #neurodivergent #fyp
Thank you for not showing your kids’ faces while they’re struggling. We all deserve dignity in our hardest moments- even children!

Does saying “get changed” rather than “get dressed” help when he already has clothes on? Just thinking out loud! Not trying to be pushy!

Give him words like I feel frustrated and validate why he’s frustrated. It will shorten the meltdown. Like I feel frustrated. I want to go do this.

The things I wish I knew before I knew my son was autistic and adhd. It makes me feel like the worse mom not knowing the difference from a tantrum. To just to much feels and unfamiliar places schedule changed so much thanks I wish I knew

I felt this whole thing in my nervous system. The way my brain has to assess the situation and weigh up next steps. Thank you for showing your process, I have some other things to try next time.

He done so well even while in a meltdown! He was still trying to listen to you and was able to express his feelings, sure he shouted but that’s so much better then hurting himself or being destructive and shouting can actually help calm the body 🥰 I’m autistic too and meltdowns are hell

i resonate with him. travelling is very hard and distressing for me too. i usually always have a big meltdown day of, and the whole trip i’m just so off and struggle to eat. coming back i spend 1-2 weeks recovering, even if it was a small weekend trip.

Aww i get like that too. 😔 Firm pressure or no touch. ear plugs or noise cancelling headphones to quiet the noise, and just give him some time to calm down. I hope this helps. He's doing so well though. ❤️
