100% agree! And if you have a stay at home partner, the partner should receive money in their personal account for their contribution being made to household expenses.

We have 3 accounts. His, hers and a joint for bills, food, etc. If we take a vacation, we equally contribute to the joint to cover it. Never a single argument about our finances.

This is a feminist point of view with banking on divorcing and not staying. My wife and I join all finances and if anything ever happened no matter cheating or what we would split it all down the damn middle and she can do what she wants

I never needed my own account. It was just one account we both had access to. Never was an issue. He passed away after 28 years of marriage. He made sure we were well taken care of. I guess I was just blessed.

Married 20 years. Joint accounts. No fights over money. There's also plenty of married people who have separate accounts and don't fight over money. TONS of married people with joint and with separate who do fight over money. The accounts don't magically make or break the relationship. How the couple manages their finances and how they communicate with each other is the make or break it.

Agree 💯. The only account we have together are for household expenses. Other than that we each have our own account. We don’t have access to each other accounts

My husband and I married in our 40s and each have our own established checking and savings accounts. We opened a joint account for mortgage, bills, taxes, etc. and we each contribute every month. We have never fought about money. Other things - yes, but never about money.

Facts. My wife said her biggest fear would be financial abuse and not having the ability to leave. I gave her 1/2 the savings to put in an account that only she has access to and I deposit money in it regularly.
