Follows Chalk’s story really resonates with me because I’m indigenous and I know the inner urge to explore the world and branch out. But I know too that my roots back home and my family are more important. I can’t leave everything behind. Can’t move across the world or date outside the tribe, like I say about certain things that are normal for the average American, “it’s not for us”, it’s not for me. It is sad but it is my duty. I belong home. Every time I play through this and I talk to Follows Chalk, I want to tell him to go explore, that he only lives once and he owes it to himself to do what he wants with his one shot. But I tell myself I need to stay grounded and live for this thing I was born into.

As someone who went from 4 to NV, Follows-Chalk and the tribals were a fascinating and cool part of Fallout I never expected to work so well. We've always seen governments and nations rebuild after the apocalypse, but barely anyone thinks that Native Americans could continue to adapt or people regress back into tribals like the White-Legs

Follows-Chalk has a good heart & a curiosity that I understand. Which is why I didn't want to encourage him. The Wasteland has many wonders, but often it's cruel & evil. He's a capable fighter, but all it would take is one person taking advantage of his kindness & naivety. I hated to dissuade him, but felt it was for the best.
