one time all I wanted to do for my birthday when I was about 15 was go to the driving range with my dad and my brother. my dad bought my brother and I a bucket each but not one for himself and I noticed a few times while hitting my dad was getting teary and when I asked if he wanted to hit a few he started crying, I had no idea that was all the money he had left but he didn't want to disappoint me on my birthday

Last year, my daughter wanted a bday party. I could barely afford a cake, never mind presents, year prior, my son went through the same thing. I pray almost everyday for change in our life. my kids dont understand the struggle of everyday life and bills, and when they ask for a simple bag of chips from the store and I have to say no, its heartbreaking that I cant make ends meet. I remember a thanksgiving that we sat on the floor and ate stolen thanksgiving food. Followed by a Christmas on the floor with no gifts. Grandma made it happen. I fell apart in that moment. No furniture, no food no gifts. My kids were thanking me for the gifts. I swore I would never let it happen again. It’s never happened again. I’m tired hurting lost more teeth than I have and my hands are stone. But it will never happen again. They think I’m the best man alive. Fuck!! If they only knew I cry some mornings. I never forget the times I let them down. I get up and grind. I get to make it happen now. I’ll give everything I have.

When my first two kids were little little I worked 3 jobs and was so tired at home that I don’t even remember what they looked like from age 2-7. They never missed a meal and always had clothes. I missed so much. When we had another kid 6 years later I quit my side jobs and told my wife we will live in the red until she goes to school so I won’t make the same mistake twice. Great decision.
