its very strange how violence is one of the focus points of the parade. this similarly happens during the Mexican Independence day parade in LA & Chicago. yet all three cities have violence all throughout the year, not just during those days.

spent my whole 20s on the parkway, frm jouvert the night b4 all the way to the parade & the violence has always been parkway adjacent, keep off the side streets esp if u not frm there & everythg was always good

This is so real. I was on the parkway the whole day having a time. It wasn't until I got home that I heard that there had been violence happening adjacent to the parade.
