@erikschaefer7: Active supernova ⭐️💥 that actually happened 40 million years ago, in a galaxy we call NGC 7331, through my telescope. From Earth’s perspective, it appears to be happening now, but it's actually an ancient cosmic ghost that is no more. Light travels at a set speed of 186,000 miles per second. At this galaxy’s distance from us, the light from this supernova took 40 million years to reach your retinas. I also don’t know if I pronounced Stephan’s Quintet properly 🤷‍♂️. I captured Supernova 2026aaiv within Galaxy NGC 7331 with my Seestar S30 Pro using 20 second subs, for a total imaging time of about 4 hours. I then stacked the 700ish individual frames using Siril, and denoised in Graxpert. Stretched back in Siril, and edited in Lightroom mobile. #supernova #telescope #astrophotography #universe #spacefacts

Nick :

i want a seestar so bad but i live in nyc lol

justbuiltdifferent_ :

And people still believe in a Jesus Christ and bible after seeing these things. Mind boggling

TBM Sports Cards :

I heard Neil DeGrasse Tyson a few weeks ago explain this, if someone is looking at earth today outside our galaxy they would be watching the dinosaurs go extinct. My mind was blown.

V12E38 :

One of my favorite NASA images of all time

“Let that sink in”

Serje Abrao :

hippieredneck :

Unexplainably Astronomy gives me such an intense feeling of peace inside

Alicia Keenan :

I can’t “let that sink in” bc my little chicken brain can’t comprehend it

William :

My favorite pic I’ve ever taken

TheLoneWolf43 :

Since it “died” that long ago, aren’t you using a sawstar instead? 😂

Anshoun :

There's no way we're alone. I think if something can happen once it can happen again and includes life existing in the Universe.

Merrisa Green :

Astronomy is just so freaking fascinating. I love it.

Ratamacue :

Please tell me it’s cataclysmic and it’s going to reset the Earth. We need a hard reset. We don’t deserve this planet anymore.

Digital Dreamer🍒🍒Chery thug. :

absolutely mind bending. Our mind can not fathom the distance.

Ugh space is so mesmerizing but it’s equally as terrifying 😭😂

adnanferdousleo14 :

This vast universe constantly makes me realize how insignificant we are as a species.

Karti :

It’s crazy how we can see stuff and it looks normal but it’s actually so far behind us in terms of time. Space is so amazing.

Nikki :

why did this make me cry?

astro_redcat :

Currently shooting it ☺️🙌

Pekopie :

how is it 40 million light years ago but we are only on year 2026? 🤔

Andyy :

Its crazy how under 600$ smart telescope can see that today. Astrophotograhy has come long way

El_Vee_ :

i tried, i didn’t see a sink outside for me to let in.

Verosika Mayday :

Yo, when he said that, why is there a sink at my door
