@kglory155: Bobby Fischer (1943–2008) was an American chess grandmaster and one of the most famous—and controversial—chess players in history. He became World Chess Champion in 1972 after defeating Soviet champion Boris Spassky in Reykjavík, Iceland. The match became known as the “Match of the Century” because it took place during the Cold War, with Fischer representing the U.S. against the dominant Soviet chess establishment. Fischer was a remarkable prodigy: he became U.S. Chess Champion at 14 and a grandmaster at 15, extraordinarily young for that era. At his peak, he dominated elite competition and helped make chess much more popular in the United States. His later life was much more troubled. He refused to defend his world title in 1975 after disagreements over match conditions, largely withdrew from competitive chess, and later became notorious for extreme and antisemitic public statements. He died in Iceland in 2008 at age 64.#fyypppppppppp #fyp #chess #blowthisup #foryou
