People don’t understand that they can’t verbalize and that they look normal but act different and normally when your child is nonverbal there sensory is very sensitive when they are out in public noise ,light to many people around I just ignore people I don’t care what they think my son is beautiful I love him and make sure he is comfortable and no one try’s to bother him when they are ignorant but don’t take it personal

I have a 41 year-old special-needs child which means I have a lot of experience. My son is super friendly so it’s hard in public to not let him talk to people he doesn’t know. I’ve become very used to it and don’t care anymore. If they talk to him, they talk to him otherwise I distract him. I know sometimes when I see somebody else with a special needs child for me I’ve caught myself staring, but it’s out of curiosity, sometimes I just want to engage, but you have to proceed with caution.

Yea I would like to know too! My daughter is 6, non verbal but vocalizes sounds really loud and people will keep staring!

People don’t understand what it’s like it different to them sometimes it scares people that they can control situations and most Latin people have this thing where they think the kids are spoiled and just acting up and a lot of people don’t have patience
