Silent treatment that lasts until the next day is childish... 4 months is psychotic. You should've had a legal separation a long time ago. Consult a lawyer as to how you can safely leave without forfeiting rights to your home or children.

This person hates you. What are you doing and why allow this?

That’s not healthy for any of you. Your kids should not have to go through life with a narcissistic dad. Nor should you. It’s manipulation. Try counseling with him. A good counselor will be able to point that out. I am very sad you are going through this. It will have negative consequences for you and your children.

The closest thing I’ve experience to a silent treatment (in my 22 year marriage) is after an argument we both kind of pretend the other isn’t there for about an hour. We don’t even leave the same room. We just take a moment to ourselves before we engage again. I’ll be honest, if he gave me the silent treatment for days… he’d come home to my stuff gone. We’re grown. You don’t get to ignore me endlessly while living in the same house and sleeping in the same bed. I DON’T do roommates. If that’s what we are then it’s time to be in my own space.

I left while being a stay at home mom. He had cleaned out all the accounts. I scraped up $100 & bought gas to drive 2 states away to my sister’s house. I found a retail job, went to college nights. I had a kid in kindergarten & one in daycare. My family & my job helped. Got out of school, got a better job, garnished his wages for child support, sold everything & split down the middle, raised the kids & been married to a wonderful man for 30 yrs! You can do it if you really want to get rid of him…because he’s already left you! He just figures “it’s cheaper to keeper”

That’s not a silent treatment. He has left the marriage and you are still there.

You've got to change the power dynamics pronto. Change something drastic so he can't help but speak with you. A habit, your looks, exercising if you don't already feels like the way to go. Don't say a thing just make sure he knows you're doing it. Seem/feel happier than usual for no particular reason. Both will get his attention and show him you're moving on and have evolved beyond his games. It's going to really phck with his personality problems and gain you some much needed power. Things not going predictably and you being happy regardless of his antics is like a blow to the gut to these guys just like months long silent treatment is to you. Let us know how it goes ❤️

Walk into a lawyer’s office and ask for help. You’re only as stuck as you allow yourself to be. God bless you! You can do this! I did it with two in diapers 40 years ago. You don’t have to live like this. Would you stay if I told you that by not protecting yourself you’re destroying your children’s future? Because you are! They see you not protecting yourself. They are absorbing this tension and disdain. They will not grow healthy and strong until their loving mama gets healthy and strong. Take the first step. You can do it! Save yourself. I promise you will heal. ♥️🙏🥰

You need to serve them with papers. Emotional abuse is still abuse.

Giving your spouse the silent treatment, especially for that long, is emotional abuse. Time to file for divorce. It won’t get better

A therapist asked me once a question I’m going to ask you. Please answer honestly: how long have you been a doormat?? And what’s that doing for you?

Been married 10 years. Never even considered the silent treatment and neither has he. Honestly, that is really concerning and you should consider how to safely exit the relationship.

Yea I’d be trying to talk after 24 and if no meaningful dialogue after 4 days… I’m not built for this. I start moving out and onwards.

Talk to a lawyer, you’ll get child and spousal support, then get a job at the kids school.

17 days of torture was the last time I endured that. Still expected dinner and laundry done. I left 11/1/2021 and never turned back and demanded a divorce. Remarried my high school sweetheart 10/25/2025 who makes me his world!
