I’m so excited for this movie but Im NOT ready for Silka’s portrayal 😭 half my annotations are digging into her character and I already know they’re making changes to her scenes for being too brutal. Issue being that the contrast between Wellie’s death and the final fight and scenes like the chocolate scene, her interview, and the chance meeting with the game-makers are what really sell her as a complicated individual. The progression from her interview where she’s confident and refers to children’s deaths as something as simple as “clearing the field” to standing over Wellie’s body while barely being rooted in reality, she was so lost in her own head in that moment and so detached from reality that it’s almost hard to believe that this is the same person. There is so much off-screen character development that you simply have to infer from what you’re given and I worry that the movie will mess this up and give us another stereotypical ‘evil’ career. The same way they cut out Clove and Cato’s final moments and Cashmere and Gloss inviting Katniss to make hammocks with them.
