My girls. I love working w/ Cymbee + Mama Jo! 🧜🏾♀️🌊 Fun fact: our Black American coastal water-spirit lore is incredibly rich + regional. Historical accounts from the SC Lowcountry describe particular springs + waters as housing their own individual cymbees, each w/ their own appearance + habits. Further north into NC/VA, we find other water + swamp-spirit traditions, particularly around the Great Dismal Swamp. Cymbee carries clear Kongo simbi/bisimbi roots, but the lore that developed here is also distinctly Black American—shaped by our ppl’s relationship w/ these lands + waters.

I saw the statue and immediately vibed with it and vibed with it more and more as you went on. I’m a cancer with a lot of water in my birth chart so stuff like this always makes me feel good. Would i do anything with this spirit? Probably not outside of maybe research and leaving offerings out of respect and kindness with zero expectations but it’s always neat for me to learn about things connected to my element 😊
