no one's understanding that while it has started to look scary. doing this for any country right now is as important as the nuclear race. a new kind of digital deterrence is what it is. the americans think china is racing them to this, thats why the americans seem to be panicking. but eventually chinese open source will allow everyone to do this, thus it wouldn't be a competitive advantage for the us afterall. chinese open source ai r&d is nothing more than a globally available hedge against the us. in the end the us would be the only one with a few trillion in debt bubble economy for the AI investment too

What’s scary is we truly have no control. Say the US government banned the development of ai, this is gonna lead to other countries especially china surpassing us in development leading to an imbalance of power. We have no choice but to continue in hopes that our models are the “best”
